Important: We run the course with a minimum of 4 participants. There is a maximum of 6 participants per session
to ensure the best learning experience. If the course does not take place on the desired date, we will
inform you in good time and offer you an alternative date.
In this 3-hour course, you will learn:
1. Basics: Botany and history of the coffee plant
Coffea Arabica or Coffea Canephora?
What exactly is Robusta and why is it found in
many espresso blends?
To understand coffee and its aroma, we need to start with botany.
Also: water! Why water is so important in coffee preparation
and which water is best for taste and machines.
2. Roasting: espresso, omni, or filter coffee roasting?
What does roasting have to do with taste? And
which roast is best for you and your
machine?
3. The grinder
A good grinder is essential for a balanced
espresso. Why? You'll learn that here!
And then we'll practice adjusting the grinder in teams.
4. Milk foam
Have you ever wondered why a barista
can conjure up a heart or even a swan on your
cappuccino? You can too. With fine
microfoam.
We also practice milk frothing in practice.
PS, and to be fair: you won't leave this course able to draw a swan on your coffee if you've never done latte art before.
But many of our participants managed to draw a heart on their first few attempts. ;)
5. Beverage catalog and recipes
What is the difference between a cappuccino
and a latte? Here you will learn the correct names of the
beverages and how to prepare them.
6. Workflow and cleaning
You want to get the most out of your machine for as long as possible, and proper cleaning
of the machine also has an impact on the taste.
Here you will also learn what this blind filter (the closed filter) is all about.
