The scale is an important accessory if you want to extract your coffee properly: 60 - 65 grams of ground coffee to 1,000 grams of water (1 liter) is our recommendation.
The scale comes with an integrated stopwatch, which allows you to give the coffee exactly the right contact time with the water. If the coffee passes through too quickly, we consider this to be "under-extraction". We speak of "over-extraction" when the coffee has run through for too long, i.e. has had a long contact time with the water. This often happens when the coffee is ground too finely. The result in the cup is then bitter and unbalanced.
You can monitor this closely with the integrated timer. A rule of thumb is: one minute of extraction time per 100gr. A coffee that holds 600ml should therefore have a total brewing time of approx. 6 minutes.
